In the co-main event and a second world championship rematch of the night at WSOF32, Alexandre “Capitao” Almeida (18-5) put his featherweight belt on the line against the fighter he took it from – Lance Palmer (10-2). The five round battle consisted of two men who understood each other’s strengths and refused to fully engage in them. The real story of the fight came from Palmer whose improved footwork and head movement could be seen as the most important aspect of this victory.

In the first, the two men engaged rarely, seeing only a successful takedown from Palmer and an onslaught of lateral movement. It wasn’t until the third round that the two fully engaged when Palmer attacked Almeida with a flurry of combinations, stunning the champion and in return eating a punch himself and falling onto the canvas. Palmer quickly recovered and the final two rounds played out in a similar fashion to the first. The Team Alpha Male fighter controlled the octagon, kept a steady pace, picked his shots and kept Almedia at bay most of the fight. Palmer emerged victorious the same way that he lost his belt, via unanimous decision.

Lance Palmer def. Alexandre Almeida via Unanimous Decision (49-46, 48-48,50-45)

Before the heavyweights meet inside the Decagon at WSOF35 on March 18, the featherweight title will be on the line as Lance “The Party” Palmer (11-2) looks to begin a successful second title run at the expense of rising star Andre “The Bull” Harrison (15-0). Palmer, a Division I All-American wrestler at Ohio State University, will have a tough task as Harrison’s confidence level is high after an dominating promotional debut at WSOFNYC with the 1st round submission of Bruce Boyington. Considered one of the best up-and-coming featherweights, Harrison has combined a collegiate wrestling background with impressive striking and submission skills. Harrison represents a real threat to the champion in every area of the fight. Competing in his backyard, the New York-native will surely enjoy a hometown advantage over Palmer.
