WSOFNYC: Josenaldo Silva Injury Update
Jan 02, 2017
The NBC portion of the WSOFNYC mega-event didn’t get started in the right direction. After a brief but furious opening few moments, Josenaldo Silva crumbled to the mat in obvious pain. To his credit, WSOF bantamweight champ Marlon Moraes realized something was wrong and allowed his opponent the opportunity to recover from injury unharmed.
Silva’s manager, Renan Mendes, was able to provide an update on the Brazilian’s status.
I spoke with Josinaldo multiple times. He is ok and will be ready to fight again very soon. The doctor thinks that was something muscular.

The former Jungle Fights star also posted on social media, encouraging those that have supported him along his journey.
Thank you GOD for all things … I came building a solid career with 5 years of invincibility in #MMA.
I had a defeat, a fight I never thought would end like that.
I was not meeting in the fight, when I managed to reverse the fight came this injury!
But all things are the permission of the LORD. Job 1:21 And he said, Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there; The LORD gave it, and the LORD took it: blessed be the name of the LORD.
I’m just happy to get where I am. It is already a great Victory.
These things are stones in the way that happen (work accidents), are also part of this sport, but I lost a fight, not the battle!
Silva entered the Decagon with a solid record after compiling an impressive amount of finishes in Brazil’s top promotion. During the first few moments of the fight, Silva caught a kick from the champion and used it to throw Moraes to the mat. As Silva’s leg came down, the knee twisted awkwardly and the challenger was forced to tap out due to an injury.
WSOF staff on hand feared the worse as they watched Silva be taken away by medical personnel from cageside. Luckily, it appears the damage was not too severe and MMA fans can look forward to seeing the Brazilian back in action sooner rather than later.
